Day 003: Money, Money, Money

January 19, 2009

With the recession in full swing, you’d think I’d be going out to eat less. So untrue. I find that in many of my circles of friends, the activities of choice are either eating out or going out. Both can be expensive, even if you do it my way. Ordering the cheapest meal and not drinking respectively. But then there are hidden fees like paying for the birthday person’s meal, tax/tip, paying extra for people who don’t pay their whole share so you’re short and everyone else needs to pay more, cover…etc. Yikes. Then I think, “I’d rather not eat or go out if it means I can buy a new coat” =)

i love to shop. For now I’m satisfied to shop online, put things in my cart and never checkout. (it’s a step up from window shopping, I think)

Day 002: Numbers & Lines

January 18, 2009

Spending time with twenty-four energetic kindergarteners this past week was enlightening, to say the least. As they learn addition and counting of numbers, I find a higher appreciation of the little things I, as an adult, take for granted. They’ve reminded me to appreciate life and continue to look for the simple pleasures in life.

Thank goodness I can count.

Day 001: Stairs

January 17, 2009

As I chased my nephew down the hall, the rare winter sun stole my attention. I stopped… dazed by the inviting light streaming through the window. This long awaited break from the cold winter’s air marked the beginning of a beautiful week of red sunsets.
